Join St. Francis Xavier Church in helping to raise money to feed the poor for Thanksgiving, Christmas and other times of the year by participating in:
At a time most of us celebrate the bounty we sometimes take for granted, there are many people that can?t
even afford to turn their lights on Thanksgiving Day
or any other day throughout the year. There are many people who fall through the cracks. They can't get food stamps because they don't qualify. How can a 69 year old lady who only gets $632 social security per month and whose rent has been raised to $650 per month not qualify? Or what about the lady who has a mentally challenged child and cancer which insurance won't pay for because it was a pre-existing illness?? The church currently helps out about thirty adopted families who have no extended families to help. After Katrina, you don't have to look too far or too deep to find needy people.
Last year, we came together as a community to share
our good fortune with those who are not so blessed.
By the efforts of sponsors and race participants,
through the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St.
Francis Xavier Church, we were able to raise money
to feed many of these unfortunate people who would
have gone through Thanksgiving and/or Christmas
without a meal. This year, we hope our 3rd annual effort will be even better with your participation. Please help us help these people by participating in our event.
